Fracture Energy Measurement in Different Concrete Grades

چکیده
Fracture energy is regarded as an intrinsic (material) properties that dominates crack mechanisms and associated growth in concrete damage under applied stress. In recent times, significant advancements computing technology have driven the adoption of finite element analysis (FEA) methodologies necessitate integration constitutive models, includingthe traction-separation relationship derived from cutting-edge fracture mechanics. A physically-based model requires values; therefore, a properly measured value essential to exhibit better structure response within FEA models. There are large arrays parameters involved during mixture, such beam size effect, aggregate size, grade, affect flexural resistance concrete. Measurement and characterization of mixed mode fracture in concrete
The Mixed Mode fracture behavior of concrete is measured and characterized by investigating a single crack in a double-notched specimen. To obtain the characterization a very stiff biaxial test set-up with a closed loop control is constructed. The opening and sliding components of the Mixed Mode displacement are measured using a specially designed orthogonal gauge, and the measurements are used...
متن کاملAnalysis of Work-of-fracture Method for Measuring Fracture Energy of Concrete
The role that plastic-frictional energy dissipation in the fracture process zone plays in the workof-fracture method for measuring the fracture energy of concrete or other quasibrittle materials is analyzed, and a possible improvement of this method is proposed. It is shown that by measuring the unloading compliance at a sufficient number of states on the post-peak descending load-deflection cu...
متن کاملCracks Analysis in Zavin Concrete Dam Using Fracture Mechanics Approach
Most of the existing concrete dams are subjected to cracking. These cracks are caused by various factors such as construction practices, curing, loads and volume change of mass concrete which reduce the efficiency, failure or instability of concrete dams. Using fracture mechanics as a new method to estimate stability and durability of concrete dams is recommended in scientific publications in w...
متن کاملSize Effect in Blunt Fracture: Concrete,
The fracture front in concrete, as well as rock, is blunted by a zone of microcracking, and in ductile metals by a zone of yielding. This blunting causes deviations from the structural size effect known from linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM). The size effect is studied first for concrete or rock structures, using dimensional analysis and illustrative examples. Fracture is considered to b...
متن کاملProcessing Digital Image for Measurement of Crack Dimensions in Concrete
The elements of the concrete structure are most frequently affected by cracking. Crack detection is essential to ensure safety and performance during its service life. Cracks do not have a regular shape, in order to achieve the exact dimensions of the crack; the general mathematical formulae are by no means applicable. The authors have proposed a new method which aims to measure the crack dimen...
